Dan Radakovich announced on May 4 that he will retire as Vice President and Director of Athletics at the University of Miami, effective June 1. In a message to the Canes community, Radakovich reflected on his tenure and expressed gratitude for campus leaders, staff, and student-athletes.
Radakovich said he is proud of the accomplishments achieved during his time at Miami. “I depart with a deep sense of gratitude for the campus leaders that hired me, the staff that worked so tirelessly beside me, and our student-athletes who represented this institution with character and class as they pursued their athletic and academic dreams,” he said.
He highlighted several milestones over the past four years, including the football program’s appearance in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game last season. He also noted historic achievements by both men’s and women’s basketball teams in March Madness during 2023. Five Hurricanes athletes captured six NCAA individual national championships during his tenure.
Radakovich pointed to academic success as well. The university matched its school record with an NCAA Graduation Success Rate of 94 percent last year. Student-athletes set a department record for semester grade point average (3.40), with all programs exceeding a 3.0 GPA for the first time in school history.
Support from donors was also mentioned by Radakovich: “We set fundraising records this year – more than $40 million raised with 10 seven-figure gifts — and this coming season have already shattered our record for football ticket sales.” He added that an expanded Carol Soffer Indoor Practice Facility will soon open.
Looking ahead, Brian Baptiste and Rachelle Paul will serve as co-leaders while a search is conducted for Radakovich’s successor. “The best is yet to come for Miami Athletics,” he said.
