Rep. María Elvira Salazar, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 27th district, has taken to social media to share her views on recent economic developments and international affairs. Salazar, who replaced former Congress member Donna Shalala in 2021, is known for her advocacy for American families and foreign policy concerning Latin America.

On June 5, 2025, Rep. Salazar posted about the improving economic conditions in the United States. She stated, “After 4 years of disaster, real relief is here.” Highlighting specific areas of improvement, she noted that egg prices are down, gas prices are falling, and inflation is cooling. She attributed these changes to efforts made on behalf of American families.

In a subsequent post on the same day at 16:51 UTC, Salazar reiterated her message in Spanish for her constituents who prefer communication in this language. She said, “Después de 4 años de desastre, por fin llega el verdadero alivio.” She echoed the sentiment that these positive changes are a result of fighting for American families.

Later that day at 19:20 UTC, Salazar addressed international issues by welcoming Venezuelan heroes to Congress. She expressed solidarity with Venezuela’s fight for freedom from Nicolás Maduro’s regime. In her words, “Un honor recibir a estos héroes venezolanos en el Congreso.” Salazar emphasized that the cause for Venezuela’s freedom remains strong and asserted that Maduro must leave along with the suffering he has caused.

María Elvira Salazar was born in Miami in 1961 and graduated from the University of Miami with a BA in 1983. Before joining Congress in 2021, she served in the Florida House of Representatives.
