The baseball game between Florida International University (FIU) and Miami scheduled for Tuesday evening was canceled after overnight conditions in the Coral Gables area left the playing surface at Mark Light Field unplayable, according to a May 5 announcement from FIU.
The cancellation affects both teams as they approach the end of their regular season schedules. The condition of the field made it impossible to safely hold the contest.
FIU is set to return to action on Wednesday, May 6, when it hosts Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) for its final midweek game of the season. The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at FIU Baseball Stadium, with live streaming available on ESPN+. Following that matchup, FIU will host Middle Tennessee from May 8 through May 10 in its final home series of the season.
Fans seeking information about tickets for upcoming home games are encouraged to call 305-FIU-GAME or visit online resources provided by FIU Athletics. The university also reminds fans that Baptist Health serves as the official sports medicine provider for FIU Athletics during the current baseball season.
