FIU’s baseball team lost to the Liberty Flames, 13-0 in seven innings, on March 29 at Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium. The game marked the conclusion of their series, with Liberty completing a sweep.
The loss leaves FIU with a record of 8-20 overall and 1-8 in Conference USA play. The result underscores ongoing challenges for the team as they continue their season.
Liberty took an early lead by scoring five runs in the first inning. They added another run in the fourth and five more in the fifth to build an 11-0 advantage. Two additional runs came in during the sixth inning, securing a shutout victory for Liberty.
Julian Mlodzinski started for FIU, allowing five runs over four innings and tying his career high with four strikeouts. George Adams and Jeremy Urena pitched in relief, while Mason Koczwara and Tracen Cameron also appeared on the mound during the game. Offensively, Mario Trivella recorded FIU’s only hit with a single. Aidan Cohall reached base twice via walks, and Cooper Rasmussen extended his on-base streak to thirteen games after being hit by a pitch.
FIU will return home to face Florida Atlantic University on Tuesday, March 31 at FIU Baseball Stadium. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start and will be available to stream on ESPN+.
