Today, Congressman Carlos Gimenez, along with Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart and 16 other members of the Florida Congressional Delegation, addressed a letter to President Trump. The letter requests the continuation of F-35 production and its deployment to Homestead Air Reserve Base.

Congressman Gimenez emphasized the urgency of modernizing air defenses in light of threats from countries like China and Russia. “The F-35 is the most advanced fighter jet in the world, and its production is critical to maintaining our military dominance,” he stated. He also highlighted Homestead Air Reserve Base’s strategic importance in supporting future tactical air power.

Congressman Diaz-Balart echoed these sentiments, citing security threats such as drug trafficking and transnational criminal organizations. “For these reasons, having the modern, multi-role F-35A fighter aircraft at Homestead Air Reserve Base…is a vital asset,” he said.

The letter thanked President Trump for his efforts in national security and highlighted Florida’s role in countering various threats. It mentioned past successes under Trump’s leadership, including dismantling drug trafficking organizations and intercepting illicit drugs.

The document also detailed Florida’s strategic position against Chinese and Russian influences in Latin America. It underscored Homestead Air Reserve Base’s contributions to local economies and its role in national defense missions.

The letter concluded by urging the administration to ensure that F-35A aircraft are stationed at Homestead Air Reserve Base. It stressed that this move aligns with Trump’s agenda for peace through strength.
