Miami offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa has been named the recipient of this year’s Jacobs Blocking Trophy, awarded annually to the top blocker in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The honor, first presented in 1953, recognizes outstanding performance among offensive linemen and is determined by votes from ACC coaches.
Mauigoa has started every game at right tackle for Miami since joining the team in 2023, totaling 38 consecutive starts. This season, he earned an overall grade of 85.9 from Pro Football Focus (PFF), ranking sixth among all offensive tackles nationally. His pass protection was rated even higher with an 88.8 PFF pass-blocking grade, which was third-best in college football.
A projected first-round pick for the 2026 NFL Draft, Mauigoa has anchored a Miami offensive line that ranks eighth nationally in sacks allowed per game and sixth in tackles for loss allowed per game. The unit also appeared on the Joe Moore Award midseason honor roll for top offensive lines.
The Hurricanes finished their regular season averaging 425.8 yards per game—150 rushing and 275.8 passing—and allowed only 11 sacks over 379 pass attempts. Mauigoa contributed significantly to these results at right tackle.
In the running game, Miami accumulated 1,800 rushing yards and scored 23 rushing touchdowns with an average of 4.2 yards per carry this season. The team surpassed the 200-yard rushing mark three times, including a high of 214 yards against NC State on November 15.
Quarterback Carson Beck benefited from this strong line play, throwing for over 3,000 yards and completing nearly three-quarters of his passes while recording 25 touchdowns during the regular season. Mauigoa also scored a three-yard rushing touchdown earlier in the year.
The Jacobs Blocking Trophy is tied to a family tradition established by William P. Jacobs, former president of Presbyterian College; members of his family continue to present the award each year.
Miami concluded its regular season with a record of ten wins and two losses overall and six wins against ACC opponents.
