Congressman Carlos A. Giménez and U.S. Senator Rick Scott recently held an event in Miami to promote hurricane preparedness as the 2025 season approaches. The gathering was part of Senator Scott’s Hurricane Preparedness Tour, aiming to encourage Floridians to take proactive measures.
The event, organized with local emergency management partners, brought together leaders from federal, state, and local levels to emphasize the importance of early preparation, particularly in South Florida’s vulnerable communities.
Congressman Giménez highlighted several key preparedness actions for residents, such as assembling emergency supply kits, understanding evacuation zones, and signing up for emergency alerts from government sources.
“As a former mayor and firefighter, I know firsthand the devastation hurricanes can cause,” said Congressman Carlos Giménez. “Preparedness saves lives. I’m proud to join Senator Rick Scott to ensure that families across South Florida are informed, equipped, and ready for the season ahead.”
Congressman Giménez represents Miami-Dade County and the Florida Keys. He is notable for being the only Cuban-born member of the 119th Congress and has a background as a career firefighter-paramedic. He has served as Fire Chief of Miami and Mayor of Miami-Dade County. In Congress, he chairs several committees related to homeland security and serves on others focusing on armed services and international relations.
