Senior Flormarie Heredia Colon and redshirt sophomore Ariana Rodriguez have been named to the All-ACC First Team, according to an announcement from the conference on Monday evening.
Heredia Colon, who is a semifinalist for AVCA Player of the Year, has received her fourth consecutive All-ACC honor and her second selection to the first team. Originally from Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, she led NCAA volleyball in several key categories throughout most of the season: kills (719), points (8.15), kills per set (6.25), and points per set (7.09). She also ranked second in the ACC for aces per set (0.54) and total aces (62).
Heredia Colon broke multiple records during this season, including setting a new all-time career kills record with 1,836 and breaking both single-season and single-match kill records—the latter three times, with a high of 43 kills in one match. She also surpassed previous marks for most ACC Offensive Player of the Week honors with seven awards and established a new NCAA Division I regular season record for points per set under the current scoring format.
Rodriguez earned her second overall All-ACC distinction but made her debut on the first team this year. In her second season playing for Miami, she led all NCAA players in total aces with 76 and was first in the ACC—and fourth nationally—in aces per set at 0.63. Rodriguez also recorded 1,181 assists over the regular season, ranking second within the conference. She was named ACC Setter of the Week three times consecutively and once earned Defensive Player of the Week recognition.
Rodriguez broke Miami’s single-season program record for most aces and now ranks sixth all-time at Miami in career assists with 2,239.
The Hurricanes secured their fourteenth bid to compete in the NCAA Volleyball Championship on Sunday. They are scheduled to play against Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. ET in Lawrence, Kansas during the tournament’s opening round.
