Rep. María Elvira Salazar, a U.S. Congress member representing Florida’s 27th district since 2021, has recently taken to social media to inform her constituents about important updates and preparedness measures. Her posts cover topics ranging from travel requirements to hurricane preparedness.
On May 5, 2025, Rep. Salazar alerted the public about new travel regulations with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). She stated “IMPORTANTE: A partir del 7 de mayo, TSA exigirá el REAL ID para viajar en avión dentro de E.E.U.U.” emphasizing the necessity of having a compliant identification card for air travel within the United States. She warned that travelers without this requirement might face delays, even if they have PreCheck status.
The following day, on May 6, she reminded Miami residents of the impending hurricane season during Hurricane Preparedness Week. In her message ” Miami, it’s Hurricane Preparedness Week!”, she urged locals to start preparing immediately as storms can quickly become severe in Florida.
She reiterated this call to action in Spanish on the same day by stating ” ¡Miami, es la Semana de Preparación para Huracanes!” highlighting the urgency of being ready for potential hurricanes in the coming month.
María Elvira Salazar was born in Miami in 1961 and has been actively serving her community through various political roles since graduating from the University of Miami with a BA in 1983.
