Hurricanes prepare for NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville

Five athletes from the Hurricanes and the men’s 4×400 relay team are set to compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 13 and 14 at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

The event is significant as it brings together top collegiate track and field athletes from across the country to compete for national titles. The Hurricanes will be represented in multiple events over two days of competition.

Edgar Campre will begin the meet on Friday at noon with the heptathlon. Later that evening, Ace Malone, who is both an Atlantic Coast Conference champion and school record holder, will run in the men’s 400-meter semifinal at 7:10 p.m. Natalie Varela is scheduled to make her first appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the women’s 800-meter semifinals at 7:25 p.m., followed by ACC champion Tania Da Silva competing in the women’s weight throw at 8:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Campre will finish his heptathlon events starting at noon. Kennedy Sauder is set to participate in the men’s high jump at 2:45 p.m. Finals for both the men’s 400 meters and women’s 800 meters are scheduled for Saturday evening, with Malone and Varela potentially returning to compete. The meet concludes with Sean Watkins, George Franks, Dominique Hall, and Malone running in the men’s 4×400 relay final at 7:55 p.m.

The championships will be streamed live on ESPN+, allowing fans to follow along remotely. Live results will also be available online for those interested in tracking performances throughout both days of competition.

This participation marks a key opportunity for Hurricanes athletes to showcase their abilities on a national stage.
