Representative María Elvira Salazar, who serves Florida’s 27th district in the U.S. Congress, shared her thoughts on social media regarding two pressing issues. Her posts reflect her stance on immigration enforcement and a recent attack on a Colombian political figure.

On June 7, 2025, Salazar expressed her views about criminal accountability and immigration priorities by stating that “Criminals like Kilmar Abrego Garcia have no place in our society. He must be held fully accountable for his crimes, and then removed from our country.” She emphasized that “Immigration enforcement should prioritize cases like this, dangerous criminals who pose a real threat to our communities.”

In a subsequent post later the same day at 01:07:40 UTC, Salazar reiterated her message in Spanish, reinforcing the importance of legal action against such individuals.

On June 8, 2025, Representative Salazar addressed an international issue involving Colombia’s presidential candidate Miguel Uribe. She expressed her concern over an attack against him with the words “I’m horrified by the attack against Colombia’s presidential candidate Miguel Uribe. I had the pleasure of welcoming him into my office, and to see him attacked is truly heartbreaking.” Highlighting the severity of this incident she noted it as “This violent and despicable act is nothing less than a direct assault on democracy…”

María Elvira Salazar has been representing Florida’s 27th District since 2021 after replacing Donna Shalala in Congress. Prior to this role, she served in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Miami in 1961 and an alumna of the University of Miami where she graduated with a BA in 1983.
