Rep. María Elvira Salazar, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 27th district, has been vocal on social media regarding political approval ratings and military leadership. Salazar, who replaced Donna Shalala in 2021, expressed her views through a series of tweets.

On March 24, 2025, Salazar commented on political approval ratings by stating that “La aprobación de los demócratas está en su punto más bajo de la historia, mientras que la aprobación del presidente Trump está en su punto más alto.” She attributed this to the Democrats’ promotion of what she describes as “radical and socialist ideas” disconnected from the majority.

The following day, March 25, 2025, she shared another tweet emphasizing the importance of military experience in leadership. She wrote: “Let the first person who has never made a mistake cast the first stone. Patriots like Hegseth and Waltz will never stop fighting for Americans.” She highlighted her appreciation for leaders with real military experience to restore American security after what she perceives as four years of weakness.

Reiterating similar sentiments in Spanish on March 25, 2025, Salazar stated: “Que arroje la primera piedra quien nunca haya cometido un error. Patriotas como Hegseth y Waltz nunca dejarán de luchar por los estadounidenses.” Again underscoring her support for leaders with military backgrounds.
