On June 18, 2025, Rep. Salazar congratulated the Florida Panthers for their success in winning the Stanley Cup for the second consecutive year. She expressed pride in the team’s achievement and noted it as a proud moment for Florida: ” Champions once again! Congratulations to the Florida Panthers on winning the Stanley Cup for the second year in a row! A proud moment for Florida! What a ride. What a team.”
The following day, June 19, 2025, she addressed an escalating situation in Israel that prompted many Americans to seek assistance leaving the region. On June 20, 2025, Rep. Salazar condemned an incident involving Congressman Max Miller that she described as unacceptable antisemitism and political violence. She emphasized that civility and respect must prevail in America: “What happened to Congressman Max Miller is unacceptable. Antisemitism and political violence must be condemned, loudly and clearly. Civility, freedom, and respect for life must always prevail in America.”
María Elvira Salazar has served in Congress since replacing Donna Shalala in 2021 after previously serving in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Miami in 1961, she continues to reside there today.
