Rep. María Elvira Salazar, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 27th district, has been vocal on several issues through her social media platform. On June 3, 2025, she addressed concerns regarding Cuba’s medical missions and antisemitic violence.

In a post made on June 3, 2025, Rep. Salazar criticized the Cuban government’s medical missions by stating that “The Cuban regime’s so-called ‘medical missions’ are nothing but modern-day slavery.” She elaborated that doctors are trafficked abroad and stripped of their rights while the regime benefits financially from their labor.

Continuing her critique of the Cuban government on the same day, Rep. Salazar posted another message in Spanish highlighting further abuses against Cuban doctors. She asserted that “El régimen cubano trafica a sus médicos como si fueran propiedad del Estado.” According to her statement, these healthcare professionals face passport confiscation and wage theft under surveillance.

Later on June 3, 2025, Rep. Salazar turned her attention to rising antisemitic violence in the United States. She expressed concern over this issue by stating “The surge in antisemitic violence is alarming and utterly unacceptable.” Emphasizing her commitment to combating such acts, she noted her ongoing efforts in Congress to ensure justice and protection for Miami and the nation.

María Elvira Salazar has represented Florida’s 27th District since replacing Donna Shalala in 2021. A Miami native born in 1961, she holds a BA from the University of Miami and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives.
