Rep. María Elvira Salazar, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 27th district since 2021, has recently shared insights and updates on social media regarding her activities and perspectives on current issues.

On June 12, 2025, Rep. Salazar expressed her appreciation for the winner of the District 27 Congressional Art Competition. She stated, “Congratulations to the winner of our District 27 Congressional Art Competition! It was a true pleasure to meet such a gifted and thoughtful member of our constituency.”

The following day, June 13, 2025, she addressed concerns about immigration policies in two separate posts. In one tweet, she highlighted that “President Trump himself has acknowledged what so many of us already know: long-time workers, many of whom have built their lives in this country, are being taken away. Our construction sites, our hotels, and our farms are feeling the impact.” She emphasized the need for legislative action by stating that it is “time for Congress to Act.”

In another post on the same day written in Spanish, she reiterated similar sentiments regarding deportations under President Trump’s administration.

María Elvira Salazar has been serving as a U.S. Congress representative since replacing Donna Shalala in 2021. Born in Miami in 1961 and an alumna of the University of Miami with a BA degree obtained in 1983, she continues to reside in Miami while addressing key issues affecting her constituents.
