Representative María Elvira Salazar, serving in the U.S. Congress for Florida’s 27th district, has recently voiced her opinions on several key policy matters through social media. Her comments center around border security, immigration reforms, and the performance of former presidents.
On April 29, 2025, Salazar expressed her views regarding the changes in border policy and their effects, claiming, “Biden dejó una frontera abierta. Ahora, los cruces fronterizos bajaron un 99%, los criminales enfrentan justicia y la manufactura vuelve a los Estados Unidos. Es apenas el comienzo.” She invited her audience to tune in to Telemundo to discuss the initial 100 days of former President Trump’s tenure.
Salazar addressed border security and immigration policy again on April 30, 2025, emphasizing the impacts of what she called “Biden’s open border.” She stated, “Biden’s open border left millions in legal limbo and punished those who followed the rules. Now that the border is secure, we can fix our broken system.” She proposed the Dignity Act, offering legal status to immigrants who have contributed to the U.S. for over five years.
In a subsequent post on the same day, Salazar reiterated, “La frontera abierta de Biden dejó a millones en un limbo legal y castigó a quienes siguieron las reglas.” Her Dignity Act aims to enable immigrants with a long-term contribution record to live and work without fear.
Salazar, 61, a Miami native who graduated with a BA from the University of Miami in 1983, succeeded Donna Shalala in Congress in 2021 and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives.
