Rep. María Elvira Salazar, a U.S. Congress member representing Florida’s 27th district since 2021, has shared her views on pressing international and domestic issues through social media posts dated June 17, 2025.

In one post, Rep. Salazar addressed the longstanding challenges within the United States’ immigration system. She stated, ” Durante mucho tiempo, Estados Unidos ha cerrado los ojos ante un sistema migratorio roto.” She highlighted the chaos at the border and millions living in shadows due to this broken system. Emphasizing that inaction is not an option, she criticized the limited solutions of amnesty or mass deportations presented so far.

On another topic concerning international relations, Rep. Salazar commented on Iran’s stance towards America and Israel. In a tweet posted later that day, she remarked that “Iran openly chants ‘Death to America’ and calls for the destruction of Israel”. She underscored the importance of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons to maintain peace and stability in the Middle East.

A similar sentiment was expressed in Spanish shortly after, reiterating her concerns about Iran’s threats toward America and its ally Israel. She wrote “Irán grita abiertamente ‘Muerte a América’ y pide la destrucción de Israel”, stressing again that allowing such a regime access to nuclear arms would jeopardize hopes for regional peace.

María Elvira Salazar was born in Miami in 1961 and graduated from the University of Miami with a BA in 1983. Before serving in Congress, she held office in the Florida House of Representatives.
