Rep. María Elvira Salazar, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 27th district, recently shared insights and updates on her activities through a series of tweets. Salazar, who has been in office since 2021 after replacing Donna Shalala, continues to focus on law enforcement and housing affordability issues.

On May 14, 2025, Rep. Salazar expressed her satisfaction in meeting with FBI Director Kash Patel, highlighting his professional beginnings in Miami-Dade County. She emphasized their joint efforts against criminal activities: “Proud to meet with @FBIDirectorKash — who got his professional start in our very own Miami-Dade! From stopping Chinese migrant smugglers to tracking Chávez and Maduro’s stolen millions in our own backyard, we’re ready to keep fighting for law and order — together.”

In a subsequent tweet posted shortly after the first one on May 14, 2025, she reiterated this sentiment in Spanish: “Orgullosa de reunirme con @FBIDirectorKash, quien inició su carrera profesional aquí mismo, en nuestro Miami-Dade. Later that day at the Financial Services Committee hearing, Rep. Salazar addressed housing affordability concerns specific to Miami: “At today’s Financial Services Committee hearing, I asked: How do we make housing more affordable for Miami? Since day one in Congress, I’ve fought for real solutions—securing $3.5 million for senior housing, supporting bipartisan reforms, and pushing to stop price gouging.” This highlights her ongoing commitment to addressing economic challenges within her constituency.

María Elvira Salazar was born in Miami in 1961 and is an alumna of the University of Miami where she graduated with a BA in 1983.
