María Elvira Salazar, a current representative in the U.S. Congress for Florida’s 27th district, actively voices her perspectives on national and international issues. Through her series of tweets, Salazar addresses significant matters pertinent to both the United States and its international allies.

On May 1, 2025, Salazar posted about the ongoing situation relating to hostages held by Hamas. “En este Día de la Independencia de Israel, recordamos que 59 rehenes incluidos 5 estadounidenses siguen en manos de Hamás. Deben ser liberados. Hamás debe ser derrotado. Israel lucha por vivir, defenderse y prosperar. EE.UU. está con ustedes. “ Through this statement, she underlines the importance of solidarity and collaboration between the United States and Israel.

In a separate tweet on May 2, 2025, Salazar marked the progress in the American job market, noting a positive development in employment figures. “In just 100 days, jobs are coming back to the US, and employment figures are on the rise!” The same sentiment was reiterated minutes later in Spanish, “A solo 100 días, los empleos regresan y la contratación sube. ¡EE.UU. vuelve a trabajar!”

Salazar, serving in Congress since 2021, brings experience from her previous tenure in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Miami in 1961, she continues to reside in the city, a hub of her political career. Salazar is an alumna of the University of Miami, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in 1983.
