Rep. María Elvira Salazar, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 27th district since 2021, has been vocal about her support for Venezuelans and small businesses in Miami through recent social media posts.

On May 9, 2025, Salazar expressed her pride in co-sponsoring the TPS (Temporary Protected Status) Act for Venezuela 2025.

Later that day, Salazar highlighted the importance of small businesses in Miami with a tweet: “From Little Havana to Coral Gables, small businesses power Miami.” She thanked Visa and SCORE Mentors for hosting a workshop aimed at supporting local entrepreneurs.

She reiterated this sentiment in Spanish, acknowledging the role of small businesses as the driving force of Miami: “Desde La Pequeña Habana hasta Coral Gables, los pequeños negocios son el motor de Miami.” Again, she extended gratitude to Visa and SCORE Mentors for organizing an event to empower local entrepreneurs.

María Elvira Salazar was born in Miami in 1961 and continues to reside there. She graduated from the University of Miami in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
