Rep. María Elvira Salazar, U.S. Congresswoman representing Florida’s 27th district since 2021, has addressed constituents through a series of social media posts about hurricane preparedness and immigration reform.
On August 11, 2025, Salazar posted a warning to Floridians about the approaching hurricane season: “Floridians, the storms are brewing. The time to prepare is now, not tomorrow.
Stock your first-aid kit, secure your home, and heed the warnings.
Let’s get through this hurricane season as ready, and as safely, as possible.”
The following day, August 12, she highlighted legislative efforts on immigration with a post stating: “From asylum reform to stopping fraud, the Dignity Act of 2025 delivers real solutions, faster decisions, stronger enforcement, and ends asylum loopholes.

Salazar was born in Miami in 1961 and continues to reside there. She holds a BA from the University of Miami (1983) and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives before joining Congress. Her recent posts reflect her ongoing engagement with both local safety issues relevant to her South Florida constituency—such as hurricane readiness—and national policy debates like immigration reform.
