The Miami Hurricanes baseball team will make its 51st NCAA Tournament appearance as it travels to Condron Family Ballpark in Gainesville for the 2026 NCAA Gainesville Regional, hosted by the Florida Gators, according to a May 28 announcement.
Miami enters the tournament as the No. 2 seed in the regional after reaching the semifinals of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament in Charlotte. The Hurricanes secured victories over Stanford and Boston College before being eliminated by Georgia Tech. This marks Miami’s sixth time playing regional games in Gainesville.
The program is one of only four athletic departments nationally to qualify for the College Football Playoff, NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, and NCAA Baseball Tournament this year. The regional will take place from May 29 through June 1 at Condron Family Ballpark, with Miami facing Troy on Friday evening. Broadcast coverage includes ACC Network and ESPN+, with radio commentary available on WVUM 90.5 FM and online at WVUM.org.
Miami previously played regionals in Gainesville in five seasons: winning championships there in 1989 and 2002, but being eliminated by Florida or South Alabama during their last three appearances (2009, 2011, and 2021). This season marks Miami’s third under head coach J.D. Arteaga.
Several players have been highlighted ahead of postseason play: Outfielder Derek Williams leads with a .389 batting average and ranks among conference leaders; infielder Alex Sosa has reached base safely in all but four games this season; pitcher Rob Evans is tied for first in ACC wins with ten; freshman catcher Alonzo Alvarez earned All-Freshman Team honors after a strong performance during tournament play.
