The Miami Hurricanes baseball team defeated Wake Forest 8-0 on April 12 at Mark Light Field, earning their fourth consecutive series win. Right-hander AJ Ciscar led the way for Miami with seven scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out five.
The victory marks another strong performance for the Hurricanes, who improved to a 27-9 record overall and an 8-7 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference play. The game was highlighted by two-run home runs from Derek Williams and Alex Sosa, helping Miami take control early and maintain momentum throughout the matchup.
Sosa’s two-run homer in the third inning gave Miami an early lead. He later added an RBI triple in the fifth inning, extending his on-base streak to 25 games since transferring from North Carolina State University. Williams contributed his fourteenth home run of the season during a decisive fifth inning that saw Miami pull further ahead.
Other key moments included freshman Alonzo Alvarez driving in a run with a line drive off the right-center field wall in the fourth inning, Fabio Peralta laying down a sacrifice bunt to score Vance Sheahan in the sixth, and Max Galvin adding an RBI groundout as part of five consecutive scoring innings for Miami. Relief pitcher Lyndon Glidewell closed out the game with two hitless innings and three strikeouts.
Miami’s starting pitchers Rob Evans, Lazaro Collera, and AJ Ciscar combined across this ACC series to allow just three runs (two earned) over nearly twenty-one innings while striking out sixteen batters. The Hurricanes will host South Florida Bulls on Wednesday as they aim to extend their midweek winning streak.
