The Miami Hurricanes baseball team defeated the NC State Wolfpack by a score of 11-9 on May 1 in the opening game of Friday’s doubleheader at Doak Field at Dail Park.

The result gives Miami a strong start to their series, as they look to secure their seventh consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference series win. The game was marked by high offensive output from both teams and several lead changes.

Brixton Lofgren earned the win for Miami, pitching one scoreless inning out of the bullpen. Lyndon Glidewell recorded his third save of the season after allowing just one hit and striking out four over 1.2 innings. Ryder Garino took the loss for NC State, surrendering six runs on seven hits across four innings.

Miami began with two runs in the first inning and extended their lead to six with a home run from Alex Sosa in his return to Doak Field after transferring from NC State. However, NC State responded with an eight-run fourth inning to take an 8-6 lead and added another run in the fifth.

The Hurricanes regained control in the seventh inning when Max Galvin hit a grand slam—his first home run of the season—to erase a three-run deficit and put Miami ahead for good. An additional insurance run came in the ninth, helping secure victory despite earlier challenges.

Game two of Friday’s doubleheader was scheduled to begin shortly after game one concluded.
