The Miami Hurricanes baseball team ended its 2026 season on May 31 after a 9-6 defeat against Troy in an elimination game held in Gainesville, Florida. The Hurricanes concluded the campaign with a record of 39-20 overall and 16-14 in conference play.
Troy’s Zach Crotchfelt earned the win by pitching 4.1 scoreless innings of relief, allowing four hits and striking out one batter. Miami’s Jake Dorn was charged with the loss after giving up two earned runs on two hits over 1.2 innings.
The Hurricanes trailed early, falling behind 2-0 following a first-inning RBI single by Steven Meier and a solo home run from Josh Pyne in the third for Troy. However, Miami responded with a four-run fourth inning that included Alex Sosa’s two-run homer—his eighteenth of the season—and a two-run single from Gabriel Milano.
Miami extended its lead to four runs after Max Galvin hit a solo home run and Alex Sosa added an RBI double, bringing the score to 6-2 through five innings. Despite this advantage, Troy rallied by scoring seven unanswered runs between the fifth and eighth innings. Key moments included Jabe Boroff’s pair of solo home runs and Houston Markham’s go-ahead homer in the seventh inning.
Troy added an insurance run on an RBI single from T.J. Meier in the eighth inning, while their bullpen kept Miami scoreless over the final four frames to secure victory.
