The Miami Hurricanes swimming team completed their participation at the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City, finishing sixth overall with 743 points. The event, hosted by the University of Iowa, featured strong competition over four days.
Miami competed without its diving team but had several notable performances in both relay and individual events. The team began the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Leah Treglia, Zofia Sobczak, Isabelle Videment, and Addy Vonderahe recorded a time of 1:39.03.
Freshman Sophie Lenze contributed to the score by placing fifth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:51.68. Phoebe Mayo finished fifth in the “C” final of the 200-yard individual medley at 2:04.41.
In the ‘A’ final of the 50-yard freestyle, Videment took sixth place (22.92), followed closely by Savannah Barr (22.93). In another relay event, Barr, Videment, Vonderahe and freshman Ines Mahmoudi secured third place in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:31.22.
Videment also placed fourth in the ‘A’ final of the 100-yard butterfly (53.82). Barr was among Miami’s top performers throughout the week; she finished second overall in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:47.03) after qualifying first during preliminaries earlier that day.
Treglia added more points for Miami by taking third place in the 100-yard backstroke (53.58). Treglia teamed up with Lenze, Videment and freshman Brooke Murphy to secure second place in the 400-yard medley relay (3:38.64).
In other individual events, Mayo finished at 1:57.74 and Sarah Sensenbrenner at 1:59.07 within the ‘A’ final of the 200-yard backstroke.
Barr concluded her weekend performance by earning second place in the 200-yard butterfly; teammates Carly Lahr and Evelyn Meggesto also scored points in this event’s ‘A’ final.
The Hurricanes will continue their season at the U.S. Open Championships scheduled for December 3-6.
