Miami men’s tennis falls to Wake Forest; seeks first ACC win against NC State

The University of Miami men’s tennis team experienced its third consecutive loss, falling to No. 4 Wake Forest on Friday afternoon in Coral Gables. The Hurricanes were unable to secure a point, resulting in a shutout defeat that moves their season record to 7-6 overall and 0-3 in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play.

Wake Forest quickly took control of the match by winning the doubles point. Mees Rottgering and Kacper Szymkowiak defeated Miami’s Rafael Segado and Jules Garot, 6-1. Shortly after, Luca Pow and Aryan Shah overcame Nacho Serra Sanchez and Mehdi Sadaoui, 6-2.

In singles play, Szymkowiak secured another win for Wake Forest on court four with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Segado. Saud Alhogbani lost to Dominick Mosejczuk, 6-7, 3-6, while Mehdi Sadaoui was defeated by Joaquin Guilleme, 2-6, 5-7.

When the match was stopped due to the result being clinched for Wake Forest, No. 98 Antonio Prat was leading No. 18 DK Suresh Ekambaram at the top singles position with scores of 3-6, 6-4, 5-3. Meanwhile, Sanchez trailed No. 51 Rottgering at 6-4, 4-6, 2-3 on his court; Kroslak was tied with No. 17 Luca Pow at one set each: 6-2, 6-7.

The Hurricanes are scheduled to remain at home for their next contest against No. 23 NC State as they continue searching for their first ACC win this season.
