Miami men’s tennis opens season with doubleheader sweeps over UNF and Buffalo

The University of Miami men’s tennis team started its season with two wins in a doubleheader on Saturday, defeating the University of North Florida Ospreys 7-0 and the Buffalo Bulls 4-0.

In doubles play against UNF, Mehdi Sadaoui and Jakub Kroslak won their match 6-1 on court two. Nacho Serra Sanchez and Antonio Prat followed with a 6-4 win. In singles, No. 30 Antonio Prat was awarded an automatic win due to his opponent’s retirement. Kroslak then secured a straight sets victory, while Segado clinched the overall match with a dominant performance on court five. Additional singles victories came from Serra Sanchez, Alhogbani, and Sadaoui.

Later in the day, Miami faced Buffalo. Sadaoui and Kroslak teamed up again for a doubles win on court two. Although Serra Sanchez and Prat lost at the top court, Alhogbani and Segado clinched the doubles point at No. 3. In singles matches, Serra Sanchez, Segado, and Prat all won in straight sets to secure another sweep for Miami.

“Miami will compete in ITA Kickoff Weekend in San Diego, Calif., to face Princeton on Friday., Jan. 23.”

The Hurricanes now have a record of 3-0 as they prepare for their next tournament appearance.
