The University of Miami track and field team recorded four program top-five performances on May 1 during the first day of the East Coast Relays at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.
The results highlight strong individual achievements for Miami athletes as they competed against regional opponents. These performances contribute to the team’s momentum heading into the remainder of the event.
Sean Watkins ran a time of 20.70 seconds in the men’s 200 meters, marking the second-fastest performance in school history. George Franks also improved his standing by recording a time of 20.74 seconds, which is now third-fastest for Miami in that event.
Jocelyn Pringle achieved a distance of 63.75 meters in the women’s hammer throw, improving her own second-best mark and earning a second-place finish. In distance running, Evan Pena finished third in the men’s 5000 meters with a time of 14:34.23, making it the fourth-fastest result ever by a Miami athlete.
Additional notable results included Kennedy Sauder winning the men’s high jump with a clearance of 2.11 meters and Lauren Kirby placing third in women’s shot put with a throw measuring 15.09 meters.
