The University of Miami track and field team closed out the Hurricane Alumni Invitational with four victories on April 11 at Cobb Stadium.
The event highlighted strong performances by several athletes, including Magdaline Campo, who won the high jump with a clearance of 1.83 meters. This result ties for the second-highest in school history and currently ranks among the top ten nationally.
In addition to Campo’s achievement, Steven Franco claimed first place in the decathlon with a total of 7,231 points, marking the fourth-best score in school records. Dominique Hall finished closely behind with 7,066 points, which is now fifth all-time for Miami. Deisiane Teixiera secured another win for Miami in the women’s javelin event with a throw of 50.43 meters. Pablo Delgado also contributed to Miami’s success by placing first in the triple jump after reaching a distance of 15.23 meters.
Other notable results included Nandy Kihuyu and Iyonna Codd finishing second and third respectively in the women’s 400-meter race, while Lexi Arambulo and Alex Severson each earned third-place finishes in their respective heats of the 1500-meter run. Zuzanna Zajac placed third in the women’s 100-meter hurdles final with a time of 13.90 seconds, and Robert Joseph took third place in the men’s 400-meter dash at 48.09 seconds.
Looking ahead, Miami will compete next at the Tom Jones Invitational scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Gainesville.
