The University of Miami women’s basketball team lost to No. 24/25 Oklahoma State, 87-84, in the final game of the Cayman Islands Classic on Saturday morning in George Town, Grand Cayman.

Miami now has an overall record of 5-2 for the season. Oklahoma State improves to 8-1.

Gal Raviv led Miami in scoring with 21 points, marking her second consecutive game with more than 20 points. Amarachi Kimpson contributed 17 points and was strong early in the game, making all three of her three-point attempts and scoring nine of Miami’s first 13 points. Ra Shaya Kyle recorded a double-double with 11 points and a team-high 13 rebounds, her fourth double-double this season.

Kimpson’s shooting helped Miami take an early lead, but Oklahoma State pulled ahead midway through the first quarter and held a four-point advantage at the end of the period. Miami regained control early in the second quarter and built their largest lead of the game at halftime, up by eleven at 42-31.

In the first half, Kimpson was perfect from the field and free throw line, totaling 15 points. Kyle secured ten rebounds before halftime as five different Hurricanes players scored.

After halftime, Natalie Wetzel hit her fourth three-pointer to extend Miami’s lead to fourteen. However, Oklahoma State responded with a strong run that cut into Miami’s advantage and eventually gave them a one-point lead late in the third quarter. The Cowgirls maintained pressure during a back-and-forth final period and took their largest lead at eight points with less than two minutes remaining. Despite efforts from Miami to close the gap, Oklahoma State held on for the win.

Miami will next play Kentucky at home on December 3 as part of the ACC-SEC Challenge. The game will tip off at 5 p.m. inside Watsco Center and will be broadcast on ESPN2.
