Rep. María Elvira Salazar, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 27th district, has recently expressed her concerns and views on pressing issues through social media. Salazar, who succeeded Donna Shalala in 2021 and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives, addressed topics ranging from antisemitism to international political accountability.

On June 20, 2025, Salazar condemned an incident involving Congressman Max Miller as “indignante e inaceptable,” emphasizing that “El antisemitismo y la violencia política no tienen cabida en Estados Unidos y deben ser condenados sin titubeos.” She further highlighted that civility, freedom, and respect for life are fundamental pillars of society.

Later that day, Salazar shared her satisfaction with a recent decision by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), stating “I recently urged the Administration to act, and I am pleased that OFAC has renewed CITGO’s license through December, protecting it from a forced sale.” Despite this development, she pointed out that the true resolution involves holding Venezuela’s leadership accountable.

Reiterating her stance in Spanish on June 20th as well, Salazar remarked “Recientemente insté a la Administración a actuar… Pero la verdadera solución está en responsabilizar a Maduro y al corrupto régimen chavista…” Her consistent messaging underscores her commitment to addressing both domestic and international issues impacting her constituents.

María Elvira Salazar was born in Miami in 1961 and graduated from the University of Miami with a BA in 1983. She continues to reside in Miami while serving her congressional duties.
