Rep. María Elvira Salazar, who represents Florida’s 27th district in the U.S. Congress, has posted a series of statements on her social media account addressing recent historical commemorations and developments in Latin America.
On July 27, 2025, Salazar paid tribute to American veterans of the Korean War, stating, “Today, we honor the brave Americans who fought in the Korean War to defend freedom and democracy. Your courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.”
The following day, July 28, she commented on the anniversary of Venezuela’s disputed election: “One year. 365 days of resistance. One year since the criminal Maduro regime stole an election in broad daylight. But the Venezuelan people did not bow. They stood tall, defending their will, honoring the heroes thrown in prison for daring to speak the truth, and pressing forward”.
Later that same day, Salazar highlighted diplomatic progress between Argentina and the United States: “Big news from Argentina. The Milei government has officially signed an agreement with the United States to start the process of joining the Visa Waiver Program, paving the way for Argentines to travel to the U.S. without a visa for short visits. This marks a powerful step toward”.
María Elvira Salazar has represented Florida’s 27th district in Congress since 2021 after succeeding Donna Shalala. She previously served in Florida’s House of Representatives and was born in Miami in 1961. Salazar is an alumna of the University of Miami.
