Rep. María Elvira Salazar, who has represented Florida’s 27th district in the U.S. Congress since 2021, recently announced the imminent reintroduction of her proposed immigration legislation, the Dignity Act, through a series of social media posts. The tweets outline her commitment to reforming the U.S. immigration system and emphasize what she describes as a firm and necessary solution.
On July 13, 2025, Salazar posted: “En solo 2 días… “ She used the hashtag #DIGNITYACT to highlight her legislative effort.
Also on July 14, Salazar addressed an English-speaking audience with: “We are the most noble nation on earth and a nation that respects the rule of law. It’s time our immigration system reflected that. The Dignity Act is coming in one day. No amnesty. No excuses. Let’s fix our system once and for all with dignity.”
María Elvira Salazar was born in Miami in 1961 and continues to reside there today at age 61. She earned her BA from the University of Miami in 1983 and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives before being elected to Congress.
