Rep. María Elvira Salazar, who has represented Florida’s 27th district in the U.S. Congress since 2021, recently used her social media platform to highlight the introduction of a new immigration reform bill. Salazar, who succeeded Donna Shalala and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives, shared details about the Dignity Act of 2025 and its bipartisan support.

On July 15, 2025, Salazar posted on social media about her appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press to discuss her newly introduced immigration bill. She stated: “I was just on NBC’s Meet the Press to talk about the landmark immigration bill I introduced today, the DIGNITY ACT! It was great discussing how we can keep the border secure, restore order, AND give dignity to those who deserve it. Tune in!”

Later that day, Salazar announced further details regarding the legislation: “Just introduced the Dignity Act of 2025. This new and improved version is the most significant immigration reform bill in a generation, with 20+ original bipartisan cosponsors. See more below:” The post included a link for additional information.

In another message posted on July 15, she emphasized bipartisan collaboration behind the bill: “Today, a bipartisan group of lawmakers and I introduced the most impactful immigration reform in a generation. Watch the video here”

María Elvira Salazar was born in Miami in 1961 and continues to reside there. She graduated from the University of Miami with a BA in 1983.
