Rep. María Elvira Salazar, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 27th district, has been vocal on several issues through her recent social media posts. Salazar, who has served in Congress since 2021 after replacing Donna Shalala, has made statements concerning national security, healthcare, and immigration.
In a post made on March 26, 2025, Salazar emphasized the accomplishments of Pete Hegseth and Mike Waltz, referring to them as “patriots” for their role in a successful anti-terrorism operation. She also expressed confidence in achieving peace through strength after what she described as four years of weakness. “¡No hay controversia alguna! Hegseth y Waltz son patriotas que llevaron a cabo una operación exitosa contra terroristas. Tras cuatro años de debilidad, alcanzaremos la paz a través de nuestra fortaleza.”
On the same day, Salazar announced her initiative related to healthcare, highlighting the importance of providing medical care to those with rare diseases. She introduced the John W. Walsh Alpha-1 Home Infusion Act, which aims to ensure home treatment for patients with Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. “All Americans deserve life-saving care—especially those with rare diseases. I’m introducing the John W. Walsh Alpha-1 Home Infusion Act to ensure Alpha-1 patients get the treatment they need, at home.”
Later that day, Salazar addressed immigration, specifically recognizing the contributions of immigrants who have lived in the United States for over ten years. She advocated for their right to live and work with dignity while also emphasizing the necessity of securing the national border and equipping law enforcement with the resources needed to ensure safety. “We have immigrants who’ve been here over 10+ years and are critical to our workforce. They deserve to live with dignity, to work, and to contribute. We also MUST keep the border secure and give law enforcement the tools they need to keep America safe.”
