Rep. María Elvira Salazar, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 27th district, has recently shared updates on her legislative efforts and international concerns through social media posts.

On May 7, 2025, Rep. Salazar announced her reintroduction of the Ocean ROI Act aimed at fostering economic growth in Miami while protecting marine environments. She stated, “Reintroduzco con orgullo la Ley Ocean ROI para impulsar el crecimiento de Miami y proteger nuestros océanos.” Highlighting the rapid expansion of the blue economy, she expressed optimism about investing in innovation in South Florida.

Later that day, she commented on a prolonged diplomatic situation involving María Corina Machado’s team at the Argentine Embassy. The group had been under siege for over a year without basic necessities such as electricity and water. Salazar noted, “The long nightmare has finally ended for @mariaCorinaYA’s team…” Congratulating Secretary Rubio on this development, she also called for action against Venezuelan leaders Maduro and Diosdado Cabello.

A similar message was posted by Salazar in Spanish shortly thereafter, reiterating her congratulations to Secretary Rubio and calling for change in Venezuela. She remarked, “La pesadilla finalmente ha terminado para el equipo de @MariaCorinaYA…”

María Elvira Salazar has served in Congress since 2021 after succeeding Donna Shalala. Born in Miami in 1961 and holding a degree from the University of Miami obtained in 1983, she continues to reside in Miami.
