Rep. María Elvira Salazar, the U.S. Congresswoman representing Florida’s 27th district, is known for her active presence on social media where she often shares her views on topics pertinent to her district and beyond. With a background in the Florida House of Representatives and currently residing in Miami, Salazar frequently addresses issues related to freedom advocacy and national security.
In a tweet dated March 27, 2025, Salazar praised Rosa María Payá, highlighting her as a symbol of the fight for freedom. “This is GREAT news! Rosa María Payá embodies the fight for freedom. Rosa and her family have stared down the tyranny of communism on a deep and personal level.” Salazar emphasized that she believed Payá is highly suitable to advance the cause of freedom on the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.
Later, on the same date, Salazar reiterated her sentiment in Spanish, writing, “¡EXCELENTE! Rosa María Payá es la viva imagen de la lucha por la libertad. Ella y su familia han enfrentado, a gran costo personal, la cruel cara del comunismo.” She asserted that there is no one better to defend liberty within the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.
Also, on March 27, 2025, Salazar criticized U.S. State Department initiatives in a tweet that voiced her concerns over security practices. “We should be helping security forces stop MS-13 thugs, NOT teaching them to ask gang members their pronouns. It’s ridiculous. Disrespectful. Pathetic. It’s time to reform the State Department to serve AMERICA’S interests, NOT the interests of woke bureaucrats!” Salazar’s statement highlighted her stance on prioritizing security efforts over what she views as peripheral social etiquettes.
