Rep. María Elvira Salazar, currently representing Florida’s 27th district in the U.S. Congress, utilized the social media platform X to discuss legislative developments and political events. Her posts highlighted the advance of her proposed legislative bill and addressed current issues affecting the domestic front.

On April 28, 2025, Salazar announced the passage of her legislation aimed at protecting individuals from online exploitation. She emphasized, “Mi ley TAKE IT DOWN finalmente brindará a las víctimas inocentes una verdadera protección contra la explotación en línea.” The law mandates platforms like Snapchat to remove false or compromising pornographic images within 48 hours or face consequences.

Later on the same day, Salazar celebrated the legislative progress of her bill. She posted, “PASSED TAKE IT DOWN Act just cleared Congress and is now heading to the President’s desk!” This bill signifies a step towards providing robust protection for innocent victims of digital exploitation.

On April 29, Salazar took a reflective stance on border security under President Biden’s administration. She articulated, “Biden left us an open border. Now, border crossings are down 99 percent, criminals are being held accountable, and American manufacturing is coming back.” She also mentioned her upcoming appearance on Telemundo to discuss President Trump’s first 100 days in office, indicating her continued engagement with public discourse.

María Elvira Salazar, aged 61, was born in Miami and currently resides there. She holds a BA from the University of Miami and began her tenure in Congress in 2021 after serving in the Florida House of Representatives.
