Gimenez highlighted Buffett's contributions to environmental causes, mentioning his efforts in protecting manatees, supporting the Everglades, and safeguarding island waterways. The congressman expressed his pride in representing the Florida Keys in Congress and his honor in memorializing Buffett by renaming the Key West post office after him.

Original co-sponsors of the bill include Reps. Neal Dunn, Kat Cammack, Bill Posey, Daniel Webster, Gus Bilirakis, Scott Franklin, Brian Mast, Mario Diaz-Balart, and Maria Elvira Salazar. These representatives have joined Gimenez in supporting the initiative to honor Jimmy Buffett in this manner.
