On Friday, Representatives Carlos Gimenez (FL-28), María Elvira Salazar (FL-27), and Mario Diaz Balart (FL-26), along with Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Rick Scott (R-FL), expressed their disapproval of the Biden Administration's failure to designate Cuba as a "not fully cooperating country" (NFCC) with U.S. counterterrorism efforts.
Rep. Gimenez criticized President Biden’s policy towards Cuba, stating, "Like so many in my community, I was born in Cuba and was forced from home shortly after the Communist takeover. President Biden’s latest concession to the murderous, terrorist Castro regime is not only unwarranted and misguided but dangerous for America’s national security.”
He further questioned why President Biden would continue to reward Havana’s military dictatorship when the Castro regime continues to undermine America’s national security, threaten allies, and engage with terrorist groups globally.
Rep. Mario Díaz-Balart also expressed his concern over the administration's foreign policy decisions regarding Cuba. He said, "Once again, the Biden Administration has made a foreign policy blunder that undermines our national security interests."
Rep. María Elvira Salazar voiced her apprehension about the possible removal of Cuba from the list of State Sponsors of Terror by the Biden Administration. She stated that it is either naive or complicit with the Castro/Díaz-Canel regime.
Senator Marco Rubio echoed these sentiments by stating that President Biden is making it clear he wants to remove the Cuban dictatorship from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
Finally, Senator Rick Scott criticized President Biden for appeasing the illegitimate, communist Cuban regime which he believes destabilizes the Western Hemisphere and supports terrorism.
