(Washington, DC) - Congressman Carlos Gimenez (FL-28) has sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and TSA Administrator David Pekoske regarding a recent visit by agents of the Cuban government to sensitive facilities at Miami International Airport. Joining Rep. Gimenez in this action were Senator Rick Scott (R-FL), Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (FL-26), and Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (FL-27). Congressman Gimenez chairs the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security, which oversees all TSA operations in the United States.

"As Homeland Security Chair on Transportation Security, I will be holding the Biden Administration accountable for its shameful and dangerous decision to grant agents of the Castro regime access to sensitive facilities at Miami International Airport," said Congressman Carlos Gimenez (FL-28). "We are demanding answers after this pathetic move that endangers our community. After the Coast Guard hosted Castro regime agents in 2023, I introduced legislation with Senator Marco Rubio that prohibits these types of exchanges with State Sponsors of Terrorism and the measure was successfully adopted in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). I look forward to working with my colleagues to introduce similar legislation to prohibit these actions from occurring once again. The Biden Administration has demonstrated zero regard for our national security and must be held to account."

“Only under the Biden Administration would they allow a terrorist regime into our secure facilities at one of the busiest airports in America. I have asked the U.S. Department of Homeland Security why they would be so oblivious,” said Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL).

"The illegitimate, communist Cuban regime is a designated State Sponsor of Terror and President Biden just opened our doors to them with a personal tour of U.S. security protocols at Miami International Airport. Everything this administration does puts America at risk. Secretary Mayorkas, the TSA Administrator, and any Biden administration official involved in this reckless decision must answer for it and be held accountable. Joe Biden’s appeasement of the Cuban regime is already putting Americans in danger; we cannot allow these terrorists back on American soil,” said Senator Rick Scott (R-FL).

“Reports that operatives of the anti-American Cuban regime were taken on a tour of our TSA facilities at Miami International Airport are absolutely reckless and dangerous, further jeopardizing U.S. national security. We need answers immediately as to who authorized this visit. The malevolent Cuban regime has a history of anti-American activities, such as intelligence sharing with U.S. adversaries like the terrorist state of Iran, further highlighting the potential disastrous consequences of the visit. Every foreign policy decision of this Administration seems intent on appeasing our enemies at the cost of undermining U.S. national security interests and putting American lives at risk,” said Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart (FL-26).
