WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tomorrow, Tuesday, July 9, at 11:00 AM ET, Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security Chairman Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) will hold a hearing to discuss the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) operations and its interactions with adversarial foreign governments, particularly the Cuban regime. This hearing follows a May 2024 delegation from Cuba hosted by TSA, which included a tour of Miami International Airport (MIA) and a meeting at TSA Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
"The Biden administration must provide transparency for its insensitive decision to grant agents of the Castro regime access to facilities at Miami International Airport––especially since the visit took place on the 122nd commemoration of Cuban Independence Day, an extremely significant date for the Cuban exile community," Subcommittee Chairman Gimenez said. "Not only were members of a murderous dictatorship that is designated as a State Sponsor of Terrorism allowed near TSA sites, but the agency did not notify the airport or Congress in advance, adding insult to injury. This is now the second time the Biden administration has invited Cuban regime officials to tour a U.S. federal government site. I look forward to getting answers on this incident on behalf of my constituents, many of whom, like me, fled from this totalitarian nightmare."
