Butler, PA – On July 22, 2024, Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez visited the site of the July 13, 2024, assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Rep. Gimenez addressed the American public through a video statement recorded from the rooftop where the incident occurred.
Rep. Gimenez demonstrated how easily an individual could access the unsecured rooftop, highlighting significant security lapses. "I am a 70-year-old man. This roof is not a big deal," said Rep. Gimenez. "For someone to tell me that Secret Service Agents could not have been here is crazy."
Congressman Carlos Giménez represents Miami-Dade County and the Florida Keys. He is noted as the only Cuban-born member of the 118th Congress and has a background as a career firefighter paramedic, former Fire Chief of Miami, and Mayor of Miami-Dade County. He currently serves as Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security, as well as being part of both the Armed Services Committee and Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party.
