Today, Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez participated in the House Homeland Security Committee's examination of the failed assassination attempt on President Donald Trump, which occurred on July 13, 2024, in Butler, Pennsylvania. Rep. Gimenez questioned Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Colonel Christopher L. Paris and National Fraternal Order of Police President Patrick Yoes regarding the incident.
The former U.S. Secret Service Director was invited to testify before the committee but did not appear and has since resigned from her position. "While we welcome the Secret Service Director’s resignation, our Homeland Security Committee will continue investigating," stated Rep. Gimenez.
Congressman Gimenez recently visited Butler, PA, and inspected the rooftop where Thomas Crooks allegedly fired at President Trump. The House Homeland Security Committee remains committed to thoroughly investigating the events leading up to the assassination attempt. "Anyone that was involved in the negligent security breach that almost led to the assassination of President Trump must be held accountable for their failures," emphasized Rep. Gimenez.
The Secret Service's primary mission is protection, a mission it failed on July 13, according to Rep. Gimenez.
