Rep. María Elvira Salazar, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 27th district, has recently expressed her concerns on social media regarding Florida law students being sponsored to visit Cuba. She also shared her enthusiasm about participating in her first hearing with the Financial Committee, emphasizing support for community banks.

On February 5, 2025, Rep. Salazar posted a tweet expressing disapproval of a program that sponsors Florida law students to visit Cuba and learn about its justice system. She criticized the Cuban justice system by stating: "The same justice system that silences dissenters and opposition figures who dare to speak against the regime! Shameful!"

In another tweet posted on the same day, she reiterated her stance in Spanish, highlighting her disappointment with the initiative. She stated: "¡La misma 'Justicia' que silencia y encarcela en procesos amañados a quienes se atreven a hablar en contra del régimen! ¡Qué vergüenza!"

Later that day, Rep. Salazar shared her excitement about attending her first hearing with the Financial Committee. In this post, she noted the importance of community banks for small businesses and families pursuing their American Dream. She expressed eagerness to collaborate with Rep. French Hill to bolster community lending efforts: "I’m excited to work with @RepFrenchHill to support and strengthen community lending."
