Congressman Carlos Gimenez mourns the passing of Lincoln Diaz-Balart

Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez has expressed his condolences following the passing of Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart. In a statement released in both English and Spanish, Gimenez paid tribute to Diaz-Balart, describing him as "a titan, a patriot, and a champion for freedom."

Gimenez remarked on Diaz-Balart's influence, saying, "Lincoln’s leadership has always been an example to follow & he has inspired so many of us with his unwavering fight for a free Cuba." He added that Diaz-Balart's guidance and friendship were significant throughout his career in public service.

In Spanish, Gimenez echoed these sentiments: "Mencionar el nombre del congresista Lincoln Díaz-Balart es mencionar a un titán... Su liderazgo siempre ha sido un ejemplo a seguir y ha inspirado a muchísimos de nosotros con su lucha inquebrantable por la libertad de Cuba."

Gimenez also mentioned personal condolences to the family of Diaz-Balart: "Lourdes & I are praying for our dear friends the Díaz-Balart family & express our sincerest condolences at this time."

Carlos Giménez serves Miami-Dade County and the Florida Keys. As the only Cuban-born member of the 119th Congress, he brings unique experiences from having fled Cuba after its Communist takeover. His career includes roles as Fire Chief of Miami and Mayor of Miami-Dade County. Currently, he holds positions such as Vice-Chairman of the Republican Governance Group and Chairman of several committees related to homeland security and services.
