Today, Congressman Carlos Gimenez from Florida's 28th district issued a statement addressing the reported threat against fellow Florida Congressman Jared Moskowitz of the 23rd district. The statement follows reports indicating a security threat to Moskowitz's life.

"Political violence has no place in our country," said Rep. Carlos Gimenez. "This violent anti-Semitic hate is despicable and must be confronted to the fullest extent of the law. I commend local and federal law enforcement in acting swiftly to ensure the safety of my dear colleague, Representative Jared Moskowitz after a plot against his life was discovered. Lourdes and I are praying for our friend, neighbor, and colleague, Congressman Jared Moskowitz, and his family."

Congressman Gimenez represents Miami-Dade County and the Florida Keys. He is notable for being the only Cuban-born member of the 118th Congress, having left Cuba following its Communist takeover. His career includes serving as a firefighter paramedic before becoming Fire Chief of Miami and Mayor of Miami-Dade County. Currently, he chairs several committees including the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security.
