Rep. María Elvira Salazar, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 27th district, recently addressed several issues through a series of tweets. These tweets reflect her concerns about crime and immigration policies, as well as her appreciation for spiritual guidance in governance.

On November 20, 2024, Rep. Salazar commented on the tragic case of Laken Riley, stating: "Laken Riley went on a run & never came back because Democrats let criminals & gangs in with impunity." She highlighted that the individual found guilty and his brothers were illegally present in the country and connected to "Tren de Aragua," a Venezuelan migrant gang operating across the USA. She concluded by expressing that "Her death was avoidable."

Later that day, Rep. Salazar reiterated her message in Spanish: "Laken Riley salió a correr y nunca regresó a casa porque los Demócratas permitieron que criminales y pandillas entraran con impunidad." She again pointed out the connection to "Tren de Aragua" and emphasized that "¡Su muerte se pudo evitar!"

In another tweet posted on November 20, 2024, Rep. Salazar expressed gratitude towards religious leaders: "Grateful for the pastors from @nahpaUSA who came to Congress to pray for lawmakers & our Nation’s future." She conveyed hope for collaborative efforts citing Proverbs 11:14 regarding guidance and victory.
