Today, Congressman Carlos Gimenez was elected by his colleagues to serve as the Vice Chairman of the Republican Governance Group (RG2). Founded in 1994, RG2 currently has 41 members in the 118th Congress and is known as the pragmatic governing wing of the House Republican Conference. As Vice Chair, Congressman Gimenez aims to focus on passing legislation that will grow the economy, bolster national security, and achieve results aligned with the mandate given to the GOP when they secured a majority in the House.

"I am honored to have the support of my colleagues to serve as the next Vice Chairman of the Republican Governance Group," said Congressman Carlos Gimenez. "Whether as Mayor of Miami-Dade County or as a Member of Congress, I am proud to lead with our commonsense values to deliver results for our community and the nation. The Members of the Republican Governance Group delivered the House Majority, hailing from some of the most competitive districts in the nation. My RG2 colleagues are among the most effective legislators in Congress, and I look forward to continuing working with Chairman David Valadao (R-CA) to grow RG2, expand our majority, and build on historic gains we achieved this cycle with Hispanic-American community."

Congressman Carlos Giménez represents Miami-Dade County and Florida Keys. He is noted for being Cuban-born among members of Congress, having left Cuba after its Communist takeover. He holds distinction as both a former Fire Chief of Miami and Mayor of Miami-Dade County before his election to Congress. Currently, he chairs several committees including Homeland Security Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security, Armed Services Committee, and Select Committee on Chinese Communist Party.
